Our Philosophy

You may notice that Lindley Park Music does not have the largest of catalogs.  However, our relatively small selection is no accident!  We are extremely proud and excited about every single item that we carry.  We promise you'll find every chart a well written, unique musical statement with a direction and purpose.

What We Carry

Lindley Park Music was founded in large part to increase the availability of quality "Little Big Band" publications.  Big bands aren't dead, but many are shrinking!  Groups that used to utilize 13 or more horns are now working with only 6-8.  However, given its relatively recent rise in popularity, there are far fewer commercially available charts for this size ensemble.  Our charts demonstrate that the smaller band actually opens up a huge number of artistic possibilities, while maintaining the power and richness of a full ensemble.

We also have a significant selection of charts for jazz combos of various sizes, and we are working feverishly to add several charts scored for conventional big band instrumentation. We are frequently adding charts for all of the above ensembles, so check back for more developments!

Quality

There's a lot of great writing out there for jazz ensemble.  But writing is only half the battle!  If you've played with a big band, you've undoubtedly seen charts with poor engraving or copy work, confusing form, or mistakes in the musical notation. Few things are more frustrating than a 10 minute talk through for a chart that only takes 5 minutes to perform!  At Lindley Park Music, we're fanatics about careful, quality engraving for ease of sight-reading.
